ESTES PARK, Colo.
- Call Grandma and Grandpa, gather the cousins, pack up Spot's toys and head to Colorado for an unforgettable family reunion. Set before the mountains and forests of Rocky Mountain National Park, YMCA of the Rockies' resort-style properties in Estes Park and Grand Lake have everything ready for a fun-filled family gathering. Multi-bedroom retreat cabins can accommodate families of all sizes and have fully equipped kitchens perfect for family meals. During the day the program department can coordinate icebreakers, orientations, and private campfires. Family members can choose to explore on their own or as a group with activities such as archery, nature hikes, fly fishing, horseback riding, cross country skiing, mountain biking, roller skating, canoeing, volleyball, arts and crafts, and ziplines. Groups looking to incorporate a special moment such as a memorial or baptism can use the on-site chaplain staff. A professional photographer is available upon request to capture the memories on film. If putting together a reunion sounds daunting, the YMCA of the Rockies staff is available to answer questions and guide the planning process. Every fall Family Reunion University is held to help family members and event planners with questions about preparing a reunion. The weekend long program has classes on customizing programming, budgeting, and logistics, as well as tours of the facilities and plenty of Q&A time.
