The Seychelles islands have announced today that its Manager at the head of its Tourist Office in the United Kingdom, Marsha Parcou, is set to return to her previous post in South Africa, as the Board's Marketing Executive, Maria Morel, arrives in the UK.
The Manager for the Seychelles Tourism Board UK Office is set to be announced soon.
Ms. Parcou was seconded to the Board's UK Office in April last year, and she is now returning to South Africa, a market she had worked on for two years before her move to Europe. The Seychelles Tourism Board has said the move back to South Africa for Marsha Parcou comes sooner than was initially planned because of health reasons. The climate in the UK is not conducive for Ms. Parcou's well-being, in view of a health condition.
She is now going back to her previous post of Marketing Manager in Pretoria and Johannesburg, to further help in campaigns to boost the South African market, especially now that the local airline Air Seychelles has announced that it is increasing its flights between Seychelles and South Africa.
The tourism board has thanked Ms. Parcou for heading one of Seychelles' primary markets during one of the most difficult seasons and wished her well in her new post. âOn behalf of the Seychelles' Ministry of Tourism and Culture, I want to thank Ms. Parcou for managing to restore confidence in the Seychelles destination in the UK trade, and the country takes justifiable pride in what she has accomplished over the last year,â said the new Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange.
He pointed out that Ms. Parcou will now be able to re-focus on opening up the destination in the Eastern Cape and East African region, a campaign she spearheaded for two years. Minister St.Ange described Ms. Parcou as a person who has a passion for the African continent and who has always seen the potential of its travel market.
The UK office's Marketing Executive, Stephanie Medor, has also flown back home to resume her studies at the Seychelles Tourism Academy. Ms. Medor has formed part of the UK team since the re-opening of the country's tourist office in 2010, and Mr. St.Ange has described her as a âvaluable player,âwho has witnessed the progressive return of Seychelles on the holiday list of the British holidaymakers in the last two years.
Maria Morel from the Seychelles Tourism Board's Head Office in Seychelles has already taken up her posting in the UK and replaces Ms. Medor. Ms. Morel had been the Marketing Executive for the Asia and Australasia markets.
The Seychelles' PR and News Bureau office will also continue to operate within the UK tourist office, under Manager, Lena Hoareau.
Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has confirmed that her office is going through the formalities alongside Bernadette Willemin, the Board's Director for Europe, to finalize the speedy positioning of the new Manager for the Board's UK Office.
