GALLATIN GATEWAY, Mont- The family vacation is taking on a new look as grandparents increasingly travel with the grandkids minus mom and dad.
At Nine Quarter Circle Ranch they can travel to a place of peaceful simplicity, where days are spent enjoying nature instead of video games and cell phones. Bordering Yellowstone National Park, the ranch offers guests picturesque landscapes, traditional ranch activities, comfortable accommodations, and true Western hospitality. Horseback riding is a big part of the ranch experience, with riding instruction and assistance available. Twice daily horseback rides are open to all levels. Younger kids, ages 6-9, can learn independence along with horseback riding in the Kiddie Wrangler program. Teens can join Grandma and Grandpa on an overnight pack trip into the high country. Flyfishing is another popular activity at the ranch. Casting lessons are held weekly and a guide is happy to share his knowledge. Rivers, streams, and a private trout pond are on-site and the Gallatin, Madison, and Yellowstone Rivers are within driving distance. Other favorite activities include the weekly softball game, hay ride, square dance, and Gymkhana, where everyone can show off their horseback skills. Meals are held in the dining room with hearty, family-style cuisine and good old fashioned conversation. At the end of each day, families can relax in their log cabins complete with honey-hued wooden furniture, homemade quilts, and private baths. Nine Quarter Circle Ranch is a place where grandparents and grandkids can escape to a beautiful and simpler time.
