eTravelBlackboard: Hot Hot Hot. Hong Kong heats up for summer
   Tipărire
Turism&Travel       At the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” press conference, HKTB Chairman Mr James Tien and Country Manager of Visa Hong Kong and Macau Mr Tom Tobin     The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) together with Visa International will roll out a HK$27 million summer spectacular in an aim to attract 12 million visitors.

Themed ‘Hot Events – Cool Pace’ the campaign will fully capture opportunities of the popular summer season running from 22 June to 31 August. Showcasing Hong Kong’s fun and never-ending excitement with an extensive range of summer activities and tempting offers on shopping and dining throughout the city will entice travellers to spend their holidays in Hong Kong. HKTB Chairman Mr James Tien expressed his delight with the partnership with Visa International, saying the allocated HK$27 million will be used promoting visitor source markets and targeting specifically younger people and families from locally and other short-haul markets. “We hope this campaign will help us drive arrivals and stimulate spending during the peak travel season, while increasing Hong Kong’s appeal as a summer destination.”   Visa International also is happy to be working with the HKTB for the sixth year running on such a large scale campaign. Country Manager of Visa Hong Kong and Macau Mr Tom Tobin said last year alone, international visitors spent a record high of HK$21 billion on their Visa cards during their stay in Hong Kong. “Through jointly staging the ‘Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper’ contest with the HKTB again, we aim to provide the participants with a first-hand experience of the diversity of Hong Kong’s offerings and the benefits of payment by Visa,” Mr Tobin said. After previous years successes, the HKTB and Visa will again launch the “Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper” as a prime event during the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular”.  The competition requires contestants to design and complete a Hong Kong itinerary based on their preferences for dining, arts and culture, greenery and nightlight. Visitors using their Visa cards at designated outlets in Hong Kong during the promotion will receive numerous special offers under the HKTB and Visa partnership. Other offers during the promotion include deals at major attractions including Hong Kong Wetland Park, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, sky100 and The Peak will be providing various kinds of offers for visitors. If that is not enough, there are a string of events including the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival, the “Summer Pop ? Live in Hong Kong” concert, the Hong Kong Book Fair, the Food Expo, the 14th Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong, and the Lan Kwai Fong Beer & Music Fest. Even residents in Hong Kong can get involved in the promotion and are encouraged to take part in the “100 Hot & Cool Places in Hong Kong” snapshot competition organised by the HKTB. Photos of “hot” and “cool” places can include the city’s shopping, dining, green attractions, culture and arts, or nightlife. All details of individual programmes in “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” can be found on the Hong Kong Tourism Board website.         Source = e-Travel Blackboard: K.W.
