Gold Coast tourism will be under review as Mayor Tom Tate looks at accountability for funding worth $14 million.
Cr Tate wants a monthly assessment of the corporation to ensure council-approved targets and KPIs are being met.
Currently there is a quarterly review by council's economic development unit, however the newly appointed mayor believes if the tourism body was not hitting its council-approved benchmarks, the funding should be put back into city hall's economic development department.
Gold Coast Tourisms 500 members along with State Government and other revenue contribute funding totalling $2.7 million.
"Gold Coast Tourism is doing a good job but it doesn't hurt to turbo-charge it," said Cr Tate.
Gold Coast Tourism boss Mr Martin Winter and some of the citys most influential tourism operators that sit on the corporation board welcomes Cr Tate to meet and discuss marketing.
"The industry looks forward to the discussions which will drive new infrastructure projects," Mr Winter said.
Cr Tate will travel to the USA to meet with Las Vegas major and will visit Miami to look at the city's cruise ship terminal as part of the new council's plan for a cruise ship terminal on the Gold Coast.
