eTravelBlackboard: ACCC grants EY, FZ agreement, extends Star Alliance programs
Turism&Travel     The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) have agreed to Affiliation Agreements between Emirates and flydubai and a Commercial Alliance between Etihad and Air Berlin, as well as authorising Star Alliance business solutions.

The ACCC handed down a draft decision allowing Emirates and Flydubai to coordinate operations on international passenger and cargo services between Australia and Dubai. The decision also applies to Emirates and Flydubai’s ‘behind and beyond’ services. The similarly draft-approved Commercial Alliance between Etihad and Air Berlin aims to coordinate international air travel services between Germany and Australia via Abu Dhabi. Codeshare operations for Air Berlin customers flying from points in Germany via Abu Dhabi and onto Australia have already commenced. The ACCC also approved an eight-year authorisation of Star Alliance Corporate Plus, Conventions Plus and Meetings Plus programs. With these solutions, Star Alliance member airlines will have the ability to offer discounted fares, volume incentives and discounts on published fares to corporate customers and conference organisers under one contract. The ACCC may grant an authorisation when it is satisfied that the public benefit from the conduct outweighs any public detriment. The ACCC has invited comments regarding the mentioned draft determinations. Anyone wishing to submit or request a pre-decision conference has been invited to do so. Source = e-Travel Blackboard: P.T
