eTurboNews : Airberlin increases capacity utilization

BERLIN, Germany - In June 2012, in the context of the "Shape & Size" efficiency-increasing program, airberlin decreased its capacity by a further 3.

8 percent to 4,172, 956 seats. At the same time, capacity utilization of Germany's second-largest airline company decreased slightly to 79.03 percent (June 2011: 80.03 percent).

The decline in the number of passengers can be attributed to the relocation of the Berlin air traffic from the future airport BER back to Berlin-Tegel, which was announced at very short notice, and to the flight schedule changes related thereto. In total, airberlin welcomed 3,297,750 passengers on board in June 2012, i.e. 5.0 percent less than in the corresponding month of the previous year (June 2011: 3,471,923 passengers).
