eTravelBlackboard: NSW scores record events
Turism&Travel New South Wales has experienced one of its most successful periods in its events hosting history, according to the Minister for Tourism and Major Events George Souris, with up to 103 business events secured in FY2011/12.

Equating to up to $225.6 million contribution to the NSW economy, Mr Souris said the 21 percent increase on the previous year delivered the third highest economy benefits in the organisation’s history and is an indication of “Sydney’s ongoing success as a business events destination”. “Our success last financial year can be contributed to our expert team, our long-term client relationships across the association and incentive sectors, and the strong support of our stakeholders- both public and private sector,” Business Events Sydney chief executive Lyn Lewis-Smith said.  According to results, NSW broke records in the number of Asian events held in the state with up to 33 events from the region. Ms Lewis-Smith said the Group hoped to maintain and build Asian business over the coming financial year through proactive marketing in South and North Asia. “We expect to continue to growth this Asian business,” she said. “In the first two weeks of this financial year, the team secured two events with an economic impact of $3.3 million.” Source = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J
