A new $40 million beachside resort that opened in Darwin last week is expected to bring thousands of new tourists into the city, according to local tourism leaders.
Opening the doors to the new SKYCITY resort late last week, NT Chief Minister Paul Henderson said the property was a significant investment into the Territorys tourism market, and had already attracted new levels of interests from both a domestic and international market.
Building on the hype, Mr Henderson added that investors were also stepping in to build on tourism appeal, with the resort sealing new Myer and INPEX developments in the region.
The flow on benefits of this $40 million investment into the Territorys tourism market will be significant this new world-class resort will attract a new level of interest from high-end interstate and overseas travellers who will enjoy themselves spending money in our fantastic shops and restaurants, Mr Henderson said.
This fantastic new world class resort has been built by our very own local construction company John Holland and has supported more than 100 local jobs.
Tourism Malarndirri McCarthy added that the 32-room resort was a strategic investment to draw in more high-end tourism and support the tourism market while the Australian dollar is still strong.
According to the Minister, the resort is equipped with a tropical lagoon style pool, a swim up bar and an Asian style day spa.
