Etihad Airways chief executive Officer James Hogan with China Eastern Airlines chairman Liu Shaoyong preside over the signing of the original MoU by Etihad Airways chief strategy and planning officer Kevin Knight and China Eastern Airlines marketing director Dong Bo, flanked by cabin crew from both airlines in Shanghai, China.
Etihad Airways has teamed up with Chinese carrier, China Eastern, on a new win-win codeshare agreement on flights between the UAE and China.
Commencing 3 September this year, China Eastern will place its MU code on Etihads flights between Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, with plans to extend the agreement in subsequent phases.
Kicking off from fourth quarter 2012, the codeshare will also include reciprocal benefits on their frequent flyer programs.
The national airline of the United Arab Emirates chief executive James Hogan said the agreement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with China Eastern earlier this year and will mutually benefit both parties.
It expands our networks in a commercially viable and mutually beneficial way, and offers our customers more choice of destinations, schedules and loyalty benefits, Mr Hogan explained.
Tickets for the new codeshare services between Abu Dhabi and China go on sale from 30 August this year.
