SINGAPORE â Sri Lanka's very own Jetwing Hotels was a part of the star-studded evening at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2012, picking up a total of 4 awards â the second year running.
Established in 1993, World Travel Awards seeks to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire. The annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the travel and tourism industry. In 2011, 791,358 individual votes were cast by travel professionals and consumers in 171 countries. Each year WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognize and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region.
This year, Jetwing Lighthouse, Jetwing Vil Uyana, Jetwing Blue, and Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions stood dominant in their categories, winning the same awards as last year â for (respectively) Sri Lanka's Leading Spa Resort, Sri Lanka's Leading Boutique Hotel, Sri Lanka's Leading Resort, and Sri Lanka's Leading Wellness Resort. Members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Jetwing Lighthouse, and Jetwing Vil Uyana are both marvels of architecture and design with the former being one of Bawa's finest creations, and Jetwing Vil Uyana an unparalleled combination of nature and luxury. Jetwing Blue and Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions are situated in the calm fishing town of Negombo, and the birthplace of the company as well.
Speaking at the event, Jetwing's Head of Sales and Marketing, Ishanth Gunewardene, was happy to say: âOur commitment to our visitors has always set us apart, and our brand of true and traditional Sri Lankan hospitality is now becoming known the world over.
