Half of United's 5,500 daily flights were affected by a computer outage this morning, causing flight delays and cancellations around the globe.
This is at least the third major outage the airline has experienced since June of this year.
The outage lasted for about 2 hours, leaving thousands of United passengers stranded. Regional flights on United Express were not affected.
When United and Continental merged, United changed over its passenger information computer system in March to the one being used by Continental and has been experiencing intermittent problems ever since.
