MediaKitty: The Travel Yogi to Host Feb. 8-15, 2014, Yoga Retreat in Bali to Benefit Yoga Behind Bars
Turism&Travel LOS ANGELES, CA, May 7, 2013 -- The Travel Yogi (http://thetravelyogi.

com/), specialist in international yoga retreats and yoga adventures, will host a Feb. 8-15, 2014, yoga retreat in Bali with 100 percent of profits going to Yoga Behind Bars. Yoga Behind Bars was founded in 2007 to offer yoga and meditation classes behind bars to dedicated youth, women and men. To date it provides 18 weekly classes in seven facilities. “This Seattle-originated program can help bring peace to incarcerated persons and their families,” said Jennifer Hoddevik, founder and director of The Travel Yogi. “We are donating our services and the teachers are volunteering to maximize the dollars going to this amazing non-profit. Yoga Behind Bars will also receive five percent of our overall annual profit to help fund their programs for classes behind bars and for inmate's families.” The per person, double occupancy, rate is from $1,595 inclusive of eco-luxury Balinese accommodation, all meals daily, a one-hour Balinese massage, airport transfers, bottled water refreshed daily in room, free WiFi, yoga mats and props. Yoga Behind Bar's Executive Director and yogi Natalie Cielle and Board of Director's member and yogi, Julie Dean will lead twice daily yoga. Yoga Behind Bar's believes in the ripple effect of innate goodness. They know that every inmate has a family waiting outside and, through these classes they will have been given the tools to help them succeed when they reenter society. Each class helps facilitate change from within each student. “While physical freedom may not be possible at the time of service, inner freedom is through yoga,” underscored Cielle. The yoga retreat is held at Soulshine Bali in Ubud, the arts and crafts center of Bali. This center is dedicated to bringing people together to practice yoga, meditation, music and dance. The exquisitely designed main building and grounds host a river, tropical gardens and several ornate ponds; an open-air yoga studio on the third floor overlooks some of the most spectacular rice terraces, temples and greenest jungle in the world. See: http://thetravelyogi.com/adventures/bali/ In addition to yoga, guests are encouraged to explore the country by partaking in optional activities: biking the countryside, visiting the Monkey Forest or Elephant Park, a cultural Balinese dinner and dance, a tour of temples, visits to the artisan centers of Mas and Celuk as well as religious sites, sunrise volcano climbs and more. According to July 2012 research by NAMASTA, YIAS and Yoga Journal, it is estimated that 15 million Americans (72.2 percent female) now regularly practice yoga. There has been an 87 percent increase on yoga product spending over the last five years; experts estimate that the average annual increase of the number of people who practice yoga is close to 20 percent. “The Travel Yogi was born out of a passion for yoga and travel” explains Hoddevik. “Our amazing teachers and one-of-a-kind destinations set our trips apart but it is the balance we achieve between wellness and fun that is changing the face of yoga retreats. Life is about balance, and holiday/retreats should be too. We eat well, imbibe well and yoga well." About The Travel Yogi The Travel Yogi is about expanding boundaries through yoga and travel.
