Turism&Travel Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is proud to host internationally acclaimed wildlife photographer Charles “Chas”  Glatzer for an exclusive Grizzly Bear Viewing Photography Workshop Sept.

26 to Oct.2, 2013, among the staggering backdrop of glaciers, rugged peaks and lush old growth coastal forests that characterize British Columbia's  Bella Coola region.Every autumn, when salmon return from the ocean to spawn in their rivers of origin, the Bella Coola Valley becomes home to a staggering concentration of grizzly bears. Ursus arctos horribilis – the grizzly. It is the apex predator of the British Columbia coast and capturing this majestic animal in its natural setting through the lens of a camera can be one of life's most thrilling experiences for both professional and novice photographers. The Grizzly Bear Viewing Photography Workshop starts at $6,495 Cdn per person and includes accommodation (based on double occupancy) in Vancouver on Sept. 25; round trip flights between Vancouver and Bella Coola, BC; airport transfers; all meals including coffee and soft drinks at the lodge; timber chalet accommodation (based on double occupancy); guide; photo instruction; and drift boats. As the owner of Shoot the Light, Glatzer has led photography workshops around the globe, in locations as diverse as Alaska, Falkland Islands and Kenya. Wildlife photography requires intimate knowledge of animal behavior, technical understanding of light and composition and a willingness to place yourself in a natural setting and await the perfect combination of light, action and beauty. Glatzer is a master of this art, having led more than 50 bear photography workshops. And, with more than 30 years of field experience and 40 major photography awards to his credit, Glatzer's images have appeared in National Geographic, Smithsonian, Travel & Leisure, Nature Photographer, Popular Photography and many more international publications. The workshop is limited to eight guests, giving participants ample opportunity for one-on-one interaction and instruction with Glatzer and up close viewings of grizzlies as they roam the riverbanks and riffles, feasting on salmon in preparation for winter's hibernation. Throughout the week, nature hikes will be led by an expert guide who will teach guests how to identify bear signs such as claw marks on trees or paw prints in the soft earth. River floats will immerse guests in the bears' preferred fall habitat where salmon are spawning. Participants also have a chance to visit the quaint seaside village of Bella Coola, the Nuxalk art gallery and other cultural attractions. For more information about the workshop, visit www.shootthelight.com (1-828-891-4082, info@shootthelight.com) or visit Tweedsmuir Park Lodge online at www.tweedsmuirparklodge.com or call 1-877-982-2407.  About Tweedsmuir Park LodgeTweedsmuir Park Lodge, tucked among a grove of ancient cedars and Douglas fir along the Atnarko River on BC's central coast, was practicing eco-tourism long before the word was invented.  It is an oasis of luxury perched on the doorstep of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park,  and  home base for heli-hiking, grizzly bear viewing, hiking and fly-fishing and where sustainability informs all aspects of operation, whether its supplying guests with reusable water bottles filled with mountain water and using biodegradable cleaning products, or assisting BC Parks with monitoring local wildlife.  Accommodations are in private cabins and chalets set among towering Douglas firs and cedars and looking out on an open field with views of the glaciated peaks beyond.
